Trials Riders' Testimonials

Daniel Barwise (Victoria, Australia)

Daniel Barwise
Daniel Barwise

Daniel is a Caterpillar Qualified diesel Mechanic who runs his own repair centre and has a passion for bikes.

Jenny is a farmer who runs cross bred sheep and Murray Grey Cattle as well as cereal grain cropping and haymaking operations.

They came to New Zealand for a 3 week family holiday to have a break from the everyday grind and the Australian drought.

Daniel found the NonStop website a while ago and was immediately impressed at the riding area and just had to check it out first hand.

Breathtaking is the only word to describe the riding area Steve has to play in. Constant running creeks and lush green grassed valleys that ascend to the cloud lined ridge tops. Absolutely stunning array of obstacles and man made sections to accomplish or sit back and watch in amazement as Steve defies gravity.

Well looked after and a top day out. Thanks very much Steve.

Hi Steve

Thank you to you and your team for entertaining our crowd on Methven show day during March. We couldn't have wished for a better day weather wise and your demonstrations helped to cap off a day which some long time locals expressed to me as the best show that they had been to. The crowds that you drew had the desired effect of pulling people to that end of the showgrounds and thus spreading the masses out. I thought your display was very professional in the way it was put together both visually and practically. I was amazed by what you guys could pull off in such confined spaces, the balance and timing was something that you have to see to really appreciate. I would have no hesitation in recommending you as an attraction for any such event.Thank you again for all your inputs into our day.
Regards James

Steven Corry (Scotland)

Steven Corry

Steven Corry and his wife Gill have been visiting Nelson from Stirlingshire in Scotland and after a day's Trials Riding Experience with Stephen Oliver at the NonStop Adventure park had this to say about his day out -

"Just a note to let you know my day out with you was superb!
The terrain was amazing and the views were to die for.

The area of ground used can be testing for all abilities from the pro to the beginner.

The weather is also magic and in fact the whole day was just perfect as far as I'm concerned.

So the very best and take care".

Chris Ward ( Auckland)

Chris Ward

Chris Ward is the latest visitor to the NonStop Trials Academy from Auckland for a day of training with Stephen.
Chris rode motorcycles up to the age of 25 and after many years he came back to the sport riding Enduros for the last six years. He decided it was time to upskill and learn some Trials techniques to aid in his riding. He has purchased a Sherco 290 to replace his Yamaha TYZ250.
Here is what he had to say after his training day -

'I was very taken by your friendly and reassuring manner, and the way you put me through the assessment, pre training. It was a great ride and set me up for what was to come.

I was encouraged by what you said of my ability and the coaching you provided has given me a renewed enthusiasm to get out and practice to achieve the standard you considered that I am capable of.

Nick's help with Stephanie was much appreciated and it was clear from what she has shared with me that they developed a special bond. Under Nick's careful eye Stephanie's confidence grew tremendously and hopefully it may lead to her spending more time on a bike.'

Ishiyama-san (Japan)

Since people have been talking about it, let me make a short report on my "dream trip".

Ishiyama-san & Allan meet again
Ishiyama-san & Allan meet again

Because I was busy at work we only made a flying visit to New Zealand of just four full days, but the two days we spent in Nelson, in particular, were really satisfying. We visited the Oliver family under the friendship arrangement made at last year's Ihatove Trial event. Of course Stephen and Deborah were there, Nick and Peter changed their work schedules around to join us, and Allan came 500 kilometers all the way from Christchurch. We had a great time.

We rode in two trial areas on farms Stephen has access to. The scenery was fantastic and I got a keen sense of just how passionate Stephen is about trials. As Yasuo Manzawa (chairman, Ihatove Trial) mentioned, he heads up an academy for training young riders and when we were there Jake Whitaker who comes from the North Island, rode with us.

I'm sure everyone reading this has lots of friends they have made through trials, but we should be really proud that the Ihatove Trial has friends like these overseas and I recommend making an opportunity to visit them. I'm sure Stephen and his family will give you a warm welcome!

See our Trials News (scroll down to 14th March 2007) for an article on Ishiyama-san's visit to New Zealand with his two sons.
